The monster in the lake

Fisherman Briggs encountered a massive bioluminescent creature beneath the waters of Lake Michigan—one of impossible size, with a gaping maw lined with rows of razor-sharp conical teeth. He fled back to his small town, but no one believed his story. That very night, three boats at the dock were dragged beneath the waves, leaving giant suction cup marks etched into the shoreline. Adrienne, a PhD candidate in marine biology, brought the damning evidence: sonar readings 600 feet below the lakebed had detected biological signals ten times larger than a blue whale's. And there was more than one. Worse still, the underwater caves connected directly to the town's foundation through the groundwater system. The creatures could emerge from any well, sewer drain, or even the town square fountain. On a stormy night, one creature burst forth from the town square fountain. Briggs discovered its fatal weakness: light. He drove it back temporarily with a flare gun, but not before the creature destroyed the power substation, plunging the entire town into darkness. No power meant no light. And no light meant no defense. The two had to restore electricity before the next storm hit. Their only hope lay in the old generator inside the abandoned lighthouse on a remote island in the lake. Briggs sailed for Lighthouse Island with the creatures hunting him through the churning waters. Meanwhile, Adrienne organized the townspeople to build a makeshift wall of light using car batteries and flashlights, holding the creatures at bay. Briggs successfully activated the lighthouse searchlight. Its powerful beam swept across the water like a sword, driving back all the creatures. But as the light pierced the depths of the lake, the true mother creature slowly rose to the surface. The light only enraged it. The foundation of Lighthouse Island began to crumble. The lighthouse tilted dangerously. And an even greater catastrophe loomed on the horizon.
