STORY

Story of the series

General Magnus Thorne buys a foolish dancer, Celeste, as a stand-in for his late love Elowen. Secretly, Celeste is a cunning assassin playing dumb to survive his tests. When fellow spy Skylark forces her to poison him, Magnus Thorne sees right through it, leading Skylark to take her own life. Later, Prince Balthazar dies mysteriously, and the Emperor blames Magnus Thorne. On their wedding day, Celeste stages a fake assassination. The couple fakes his death to lure out the true mastermind, Lysander Locke. Armed with defense plans Celeste stole, Magnus Thorne defeats the enemy and slays Lysander Locke. With her true identity revealed, the two finally embrace their love.
