Story of the series
When Claire was three months pregnant, her husband Miles came to her Wish Pawnshop, wanting to trade the dragon child in her womb and her memories of him for the restored sight of Amber, his late brother's widow. Sitting behind the curtain, Claire recognized him but completed the transaction in despair. Over the following five days, Miles kept the truth from her while continually favoring Amber—even scolding and slapping Claire after Amber framed her. On the night the contract was fulfilled, Claire lost her child and gradually lost all memories of Miles, and was taken away by her friend Leo. Miles finally saw Amber's true nature and tried to make amends, but it was too late.
